Grand Opening, etc.

Our Grand Opening on June 27 was quite successful, thanks to all who stopped by! If you didn't have a chance to come around, you don't want to miss the Olde Canal Days festival coming up July 9, 10, and 11.

In addition to our books, we're now selling American Girl doll clothes, custom tote bags (perfect for groceries... go green!), and Avon products.

First Day!

Things are going pretty smoothly for our first "official" day opened. :) Most of Canal Fulton is closed on Mondays, so we weren't expecting a lot of business, which was nice because we still had a lot of organizing to do! We also hadn't expected that the phone company and electric would be set up SO quickly and easily! :)

Denise and I have turned out to be pretty handy fix-it women, we managed to use nails, a hammer, screws, a screwdriver, and a level today and the results were quite impressive! haha

Fliers/Big Move

Plans to pass out fliers starts tomorrow. If I were to guess based on how much cutting, copying and folding I've been doing I would guess that we have enough to cover all of the continental United States, possibly expanding into Canada and Mexico. Though guessing was never my strong point. Denise and I have narrowed our figures down to deciding that we will make anywhere between -$5,000 and $500,000. The good news is, even if we fail miserably, we'll be able to read a new book every week for the next 3 lifetimes.

Plans to begin the big move are officially set for Sunday! I planned on doing an intense work out regimen since 3 out of 3 of the male helpers will be vacationing, but decided that thinking about working out was too much of a work out in itself. And since your mind is your greatest resource I decided that the most helpful thing I could be doing is daydreaming about all the books setting themselves up. I do believe the more I think it will happen the more likely it is to actually happen....

Getting Started

For everything we cross off our to-do list we seem to add at least 5 more! All things considered, things are progressing very well. In a matter of months we've collected thousands of books, book shelves, dealt with rent, telephone, insurance, logo issues and right now we're really itching to move Our Novel Idea out of Denise's house and into our store! Or rather, wake-up and discover that all the books have mysteriously moved to the store and organized themselves by genre. I'll keep my fingers crossed for that option. New pictures have been added to the Photo section, don't worry, they're the 'Before' shots! :)
